But as I am new to tvr, not much exposure to this "alien" goldfish I have no idea what is the balance that I am suppose to work for....really not sure which way to work towards. A "blind" like me may consider chubby stomach as good development but instead it is a big failure in tvr perspective.
If we have 'benchmark' to compare to then only we may see the level of achivement on each area (head, body, tail & swimming). So how can I judge the fishes' formation?
Maybe should start with some photos of champions.....it may help.

Another eg. How does a champion tvr swim (at this stage/age). I have no idea.
More exposure and information will really help giving better idea for most of us.

Plenty of Thanks.
It'll be difficult for us to relay how it should be and we too refer to reference from the net. On and off, we discuss, if there's question, we ask sensei. A ranchu workshop will helps a lot. At the beginning, refer to the internet will be sufficient cos you'll have a guideline how others fish develop. Nevertheless, experience plays a big part in this issue.

Try the following link and simply click around and you'll find no less then 1000 tosai pictures.

金魚ランキング

hope it helps.

thanks

It will not be now. OK, I'll keep them together to the maximum period as long as the tank size can hold them. I'll get advise when the time is on, when their size are too big for the tank.

Thanks,

Hi to all,

The different is so obvious, compare to my group.
The biggest part is the peduncle. No a single pc of mine have got a good thick peduncle like those "benchmark" from japan.

Why? Anything that I have wrongly done. Or is this happening to all other keeper (not just my pcs)?

I believe it is due to the genetic! If it's so, I hope there is a method/technic to develop the peduncle.

Thanks again and again,

Don't worry so much. No one said that peduncle has to be as thick as possible. Do you think thick peduncle can flex better or slimmer ones? It's thinner but it is not weaker. Also, I have not met with one Japanese judge that says a thick peduncle will score a point. Don't get me wrong, thick or thin peduncle, it is a matter of fractional difference. Doesn't mean thick is bad and thin is good. The balance of the fish is most important.

The balance is what we aim for and don't worry on one single spot. Also, you are right about the genetic of the fish. And, I don't think it is a weakness, but is it a strength? I can't comment on this yet. As long as we get reasonable thickness, we'll be ok. (As long as it not as thin as China fish's peduncles...) It will grow together with the body shape.

As picture shown, the winner has thinner peduncle than thicker peduncle fishes. Why? Cos it is the best balanced fish. (Pics taken from Sensei's webpage)

Does peduncle score you points in competition? No, is the answer. What you saw in the webpages is for reference on study focusing on balance of the fish. The more you see, the more you'll have better picture what it should be. Along the way, please raise question just like what you've done.

Hope it clears your doubt

Cheers.

Thanks Yeemiau.
I gez the peduncle area will look thicker from topview when that part of tail bend/fold more....then the thin part is kind of folded (and hidden). (check the last photo below)

Hi Yeemiau and Nagano,

This is just an idea.

Instead of bringing our pc of tvr, can I/we take pc from Nagano's group of the same batch. If ok I'd luv to take few pcs back to KL. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Please consider this. I'm hoping for +ve answer.

Thanks again and again.
