Hi Yeemiau,

I did WC this morning and tried your method. I can see my TVR not hidding at corner anymore. When i come closer to view them, they are not scare away. Good method ! I will use it from now on.

Another situation; In 5th & 6th day, my GW still have nice deep green color. But, on 7th day morning (today), i discover the GW become brownish color, look like the algea settle. Any sign of problem ? I observed the tvr, can't find anything.

Regards
eu

eu,

Better do the water change before things starts changing, say 5th or 6th day; as you mentioned. During this period, don't let the water getting too dense. Gonna be dangerous when there's certain change in water (green ---> brown) ... I normally change my water on day 4-5... can't drag till day 7 which is the target discussed earlier but don't get too deep into achieving the 7 days target. It is only a reference, so the method need to be more flexible. The result can even be better if you can control the "environment" in constant.

For this period, when you can't see the bottom of tub, it's already getting too dense and suggested to do water change the next day.

Cheers.

Guys,

Here's some update on my fishes' progress.

and a pic of the tubs used.

Water changed today and their digestion has not been good since 4-5 days ago. So, i've reduced feeding of Bloodworm to 15-180 grams today. Shall observe later and see if any improvement. If so, will increase back to 280 grams in 2 days.

cheers.

Yeemiau,

You tub's water seem brownish color too. Any water quality issue arise recently ?

Due to work, i only able to feed my TVR 2 time BW, abt 130g & 3 time pellet. Last week i observed overdose of pellet (by Autofeeder) cause bad water quality. This make me to find AF with separate compartment to ensure correct feeding amount.

Yup, I had some problem with water as well. So, i did an early water change; it's only 4th day. No worries on the BW amount and it seems you're doing well. But it does not effect much cos I changed water quite instantly when i notice something wrong with it. I didn't wash it until this morning and the water looked terrible after 24 hours. So, early alarm can prevent many unnecessary problems.

Cheers.

Yeemiau,

You mean you will do WC immediately after you discover water problem ? No fasting for 1 day period to WC ? Do WC also in the afternoon/evening ?

It all depends. If the case is serious such as HUGE AMOUNT of foam a like bubbles and very bad smell. I'll do that immediately (being it is morning, afternoon of evening)but handle the fish and conditioning really carefully. If the water turning brown or turning "clear"... can schedule for next morning. Can make it quite flexible in this matter cos there's no fixed rules. all depending how urgent is the matter is.

Another point, I do feed the fish on the first day after water change; started few weeks ago. Some of the member does that and some does not. It is all voice down to the fish's condition after water change. If you see them all active and searching for food right after water changed. You MAY feed them after 1-2 hours with stable reaction. Some playing save and prefer not to feed. Cos things can get really wrong if you're not careful on the first day feeding.

I need to boost the body therefore I adopt this technique at this time; means, maximum feeding. I reckon at this stage, you can feed till the last day before water change and it is all up to you to decide if you wanna feed on the water change day. I can see your fish has a good head and maybe it is time for a little body building. If you don't feel comfortable or not confident on the water change day feeding... i reckon you can skip it as many members has done.

This year is my "knife sharpening" year thus my risky moves. My fish is subject to much risk as the way i push it to limit; it's like walking on a thin fine line) Therefore, observation and alertness has to be very detail and quick. Sensei once said," if you're not doing your homework, your fish wouldn't get sick...." (We pushed it over the limit) It shows that Japs are really pushing their fishes to the limit too; but with great experiences....

As for your feedings, I reckon you are doing your best as you have work commitment... moreover, you fish has turn out nice... so, keep it going and enjoy!

Cheers.

Yeemiau,

Thanks for your advise. I think i will stick to the basic rule as i really don't have much time to observe and react with problem arise.

This year, i want to see how can my TVR grow with the basic rule and also gain those experience through the processs.

Keep us inform with your method, maybe we can learn something from your experience.

Regards
eu
