I believe I am having gill fluke problems as well. Serious problem such that last year batch fish 2 died today.
I suggest if possible, while treating the more badly infected fish, observe the rest. Slightest hint of possible problem treat them as well as usually the problem is prevalent with all occupants. |

Keep an eye for early signs of problems. Such as unusually prolonged periods of inactivity, etc. Hope you don't get a situation like mine. Probably the stress of relocating their tubs to a different temporary location weakened them...also JKR been doing a lot of pipework in my area past month or so changing pipelines...water may have got a problem there.
Btw, anybody wanting to let go of their ranchu, such as any from last year's batch please contact me. |

Hi to all,
I observed them carefully individually under ligthing this morning. 3 pcs is having unbalance braething, only one side gill cover is opening for braething (including the 1 been quaranteened before). Plan to quaranteen them again soon, new water 5% salt without feeding. Thanks to Master Yeemiau for his advise. |

Yes, I also believe all should be quaratined just in case.
Btw, I think it is 0.5%, not 5% :P 5% too salty...fish become hamsup :P After 0.5% salt and antibiotics first day treatment, the remainder of my ranchus all have shown drastic improvement though still weak. Here's to hoping I lose no more. |

Personally I would stop feeding during this period until sure they are recovered. Would feel safer.

Salt alone may not be 100% effective but it does help. Measure the volume of water in litres, then times 1000(1 liter water=1kg, so times 1000 to change it to gram) then take that number times 0.5% on the calculator, should give you amount of salt to add in grams.
