CR,

I think you need make your choice of green water or clear water. If GW, then you don't need those filter, just air stone. If clear water, then you may need to further improve the filter system; canister filter + water plant + ..Objective is remove amonia, nitrite & nitrate.

Pet safari stuff is quite expensive. If possible, consider to DIY. It will be more fun.

Regard
eu

I think they're using the filter's pump to pump out the water.

Dear CR,

There's thousand and one way of doing it but always keep one concept in mind. "Keep it simple and easy for maintenance. Make things done in such way that it'll be easy for your water change, saves your time and with contingencies".

Michael Loke (I'm not such if you've met him, one of the Ipoh gang) has a 2 tier pond system. I think i've post its' pic sometime ago; with 2" water release hole and water storage tank. It'll take about 10-15 minutes to drain, clean and fill the 4'x5' tank. Imagine how speedy you can achieve with smaller ones.

Cheers

The setups are using heavy duty filter system...no need for water change for months. Also some of the filter system got "backwash" where the filter will clear all solid waste via a backwash outlet with a press of a button. So no need to open it for cleaning the filter medium. It seem to be very easy and practical.

Also most of the filter system come with built-in UV system, but with saperate switsh; meaning that you can off the UV without stoping the filter system - continue running. Which means that you can still have the GW and may switch on the UV when the GW is too thick (just my thought).

But not sure if the system is suitable for grooming goldfish (not just keeping). Anyone have experience using this filter system on outdoor pond? Hope don't mind sharing!!!

Cheers,

Default Dewatering for water change

Hi,

I was told that the filter use backwash function to pushout the solid waste inside it also to suck out existing water from the tank for partial water change. Meaning that the tank do not need to have a bottom outlet as it work similarly on earth-pond.

Here how it work on earth-pond with waterfall/water feature;

Hello!!

Most popular brand which produce this kind of filter is OASE, LAGUNA, TETRA POND & others.
Has anyone used this kind of filter system on goldfish pond before?
I'd appreciate if you can share your experience and comment on the system. Is it worth spending for such system?

Thanks in advance,
