It's normal to have uneven size in one spawn.I will culled the small ones and remain the bigger size for further grooming.
If that is my spawn,I wil onli ratain the 2nd fish, the longer body with small fantails. The 1st fish will be culled.I bet u will do the reversed .

This is something you will see no matter what species of fish you raise. There will be some big, some small. Those stronger will outcompete the rest for food, and add the effect of phermones secreted to impede growth, hence the size differences. Then there will always be those that are especially small and do not grow even if you separately raise them...the runts.
The best way around this is to do regular culling to remove the deformed and runts at early stages, then also separate according to size. There is nothing wrong with what you encounter. |

Some weeks ago I was undecided whether to keep these runts.
![]() I was advised to throw them away so that I can better concentrate on the better fries for optimal growth. As is always the case, I love challenges and decided to keep 10 pieces and give them maximum “kao-hoon” 24/7. After 3˝ weeks, this is what I got. Misteriously I was only left with 6 pieces and these are the best 3 pieces. ![]() ![]() |
