I was doing some research on dwarf gouramis (and I almost bought some for my tank... I decided not to, because I couldn't find any females for sale in my area and I wanted 1 m and 2 f.) In my research, I read that dwarf gouramis are particularly prone to parasites which can show up as ridges, ripples or bumps on its side. I also saw many sites that recommended quarentineing them for 3 weeks after purchase and treating them for parasites... maybe that's your fish's problem?

I know that "shimmy" is most commonly found in mollies, but have read that it may be linked to other fish. If that is the case, it is b/c of the condition of your water and will need to do at least a 25% water change and add a "shimmy block" made my Jungle Labs found at any pet store. Most of my fish were doing that, and the block really seemed to help.

Hey Eruna, if you are looking for female dwarf gouramis, there are plenty of in at Xian Leng Aquarium in Shah Alam. There were 3 tanks filled with mostly cobalt blue dwarf gouramis and going for 30sen each. Some with big stomach (i.e. pregnant).
