Hi experts,
i just bot lot of guppies from a lfs last nite. But did saw some guppies dying in their tank. Can't see there is anything wrong in lfs. But after putting in my tank. I saw..."FIN ROT!" I don't know this is due to "ammonia burn" or really a fin rot. So i didnt put any medicine. if ammonia burn, then they will fine without any medic. I found 30 over of them died and 20 over dying this morning. All the dying or died guppies are from the same lfs. The other female guppies from another lfs are fine. my Q is, why the guppies dying slowly in lfs tank. and why died so fast in my tank? Due to stress being captured? Or other reason? |

Basically, they die of stress due to change of water condition, like kh and ph rate. Sometimes temperature also a reason of the fish die after transfer from other tank/environment. You have to do some homework b4 getting in new fish to your tank.
1. Check original water temperature, try to control in +/-2 dc. 2. Check original water kh and ph rate, if original water ph = 5.5, then do not deliver the fish direct to new water tank which could be ph = 7.0 and above. 3. Don't buy sick fish. Those lfs supply very weak.. check their condition b4 buying. |

thx reg.
the ph and temp is almost the same with lfs. I just found out they got fin rot after a while i put them inside my tank. saw the fin end with some white fungus. then the tail broken... anyway, all of them died. Managed to save the females. They are all healthy in my 6ft and having 20 over babies now. |

Hi. Juz setup my tank abt 8 days ago. Have bought so far 9 guppies but 2 of them have juz died, both females. Notice that the symptom is the same. The body is bent (^). Is this a disease? Could it infect other guppies or fishes in the tank?
