I have Neon Tetras that have white nodules growing inside their mouths. What is this? It sounds like 'Cotton Mouth' except the nodules do not look like cotton wool, they look quite solid and a re very white.
Shortly after I got the Tetras (about 4 months ago) one of them had a nodule, but it went away just as I was getting concerned. Now 3 of them have it and one looks like he's going to starve to death because he can't close his mouth at all and is starting to lose his colour. None of them have spots anywhere else on their bodies, so I don't think it's 'Neon Tetra Disease'. Any suggestions or advice? |

Hi Dar
The Anti-Ick that I mentioned is what I used to treat those white spots and those nodules growing around the fishes mouth. It is what I got from my Fish shop. It's what we have in South Africa. Unfortunately I have to leave now, but will do some further research to help you tomorrow. Kind Regards

Hi Dar
Ich is the white spot disease that our fishes get. Anti-Ick is a chemical solution to treat this disease. Ick or Ich can and will spread with hands, nets, plants, filters, water, fish, gravel, etc. The secret with ick is prevention by careful fish selection and occasional anti-ick treatment if there is any suspicion or confirmation that ick is present. You have to be careful though with fishes without scales. Here's a couple of sights that I read. http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/doc...h/fungin.shtml http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/hdcolumn.htm Medications Clinical Signs Look under clinical signs to see if your fish has these symptoms Hope this helps Kind Regards
