Yes you may find some DS in our feeder guppies. No it's not a local fish species. ALL over the worlds guppy actually originated from South/North America i.e Venezuela & Florida to be precise. PLEASE take note!!!

Hi Galactuz,

Thanks for your insight on them guppies. I have my doubts though.. seeing the real Endlers and the Poecila 'sp' from our local drainages, it seems to be a different variant. I really can't be sure though.

Yeah, galactuz, I agreed with bro CC, endler is different than our 'longkang' fish... eventhough they are originated from the same place, but as you said, our 'longkang' fish had developed generation to generation in our longkang, but endler can consider as original species, so I think they are different...
Moreover, my endler can breed very very true, children and grandchildren look just the same like parent or grandparent... does our 'longkang' fish giving you same offspring??

Leong, if you hybridise my endlers guppy with the fancy I will slap you on your head.... (LOL... just kidding bro.)

Shudders to think what ppl's idea of "species defferential" is on this forum.

Poecilia sp "Endlers" is NOT your common feeder fish guppy. They breed thru.. ie they babies all look similar to their parent fish where as the wild Poecilia reticulata throws a whole lot of variation in pattern/colour in their fry. The colour on true P. endlers is also a lot brighter.

Below is a good read on the nitty gritty of P.endlers by the man who collected it. Prof. John Endler.

Sorry my bad......

I still have a long way to upkeep my knowledge about guppies. So the sifus has spoken. So the point here endlers is endlers and longkang guppies is wild guppies.

But can't wild guppies also breeds true? Hmmm a point to ponder......anyway I just like to give some points for debate so that this forum will not be darn quite like last week.........
