Default Poecilia sp "Endlers" anyone?

OK, I see a lot of talk here about the fancy guppy strains, but anyone keeping the wild venezualan P.sp "Endlers" strains?

Recently got one strain (with big black 'Nike' swoosh sign on side of body.. LOL). Was wondering if anyone else is into Endlers livebearers?

Kev

No one replied to this Thread??? Bro, guess you've got to post a pic in here....... I really doubt that anyone knows what this is. Most folks in here are really what my sig claims most to be.....

BTW, did you realise that there's a section for guppy and platys and another for livebearers? Ain't Guppy's and Platys livebearers ? Oh, well !!!!

I do have some Endler here, but Endler is not as popular as guppy because it does not have big tail like guppy... my endler multiply like pig...

Hihi interesting discussion.............. I think you can scoop some of the endlers in the drain. When I used to bred cichlids, I used to scoop from the drain as supplement to buying from LFS to cut cost. I noticed that most of the endlers male were quite interesting in color. I've seen doubleswords, nike endorsement in various colors, bottomsword, topsword but not the broad tails like the fancy guppy has. Sadly they turn the drain into a huge one and covered it up since the place is quite flood prone.

Well about the livebearer. There were actually some disguises from some species (which I didn't have time to check). There were actually 2 groups of livebearer (or actually not) i.e. oviparous and viviparous. One of it is a pseudo-livebearer meaning it actually layed eggs in it's abdomen and merely act as an incubator for the eggs to hatch meanwhile the other actually feeds the eggs until it's old enough in the abdomen to be delivered which is the true livebearer. However I'm not sure whether this forum was arranged that way.

Any way do all of you know that our guppy belongs to a different family? There were discussion to replace poecilia so in future we will not mention guppy as poecilia reticulata. However they said they'll retain the reticulata since it's a species name.

Just my morning rambling. Correct me if I'm wrong.

gosh ! I really didn't know that Endlers guppies are found in our drains. I really doubt that. Endlers are really from the drainages of Venezuela. Though similiar to our "longkau" guppy here..... but I think its a different species altogether.

Hihi I thought all the guppies we have today originated from the ancesters of the drainages of Venezuela......guppies are not local species you know. There are alien species but not classified as invasive alien species yet such as the sucker and african catfishes. We have our "longkau" guppies because it was brought in to combat Malaria & Dengue fever which plagued us a long time ago and is still now. So this runs a long way back which we find accustomed as our own species which is definitely not. So the fancy guppies where produced from generations of selective breeding & inbreeding of these Venezulans species. But I think we do have another slightly different species in USA in the waters of Florida which has bigger body sizes especially females. I think it was a crossbreed that created our huge female fancy guppy we have today.

Thanks for tuning in my lunchtime rambling.
