Unhappy WTB: Rummy Nose (Fully red head)

Guys, please help me out here. I'm looking to buy Hemigrammus bleheri, the fully red head rummy nose. Has anyone spotted them in the LFS in KL or Selangor? Melvin tells me they don't bring these fish in anymore.... quite sad if this is true...

Hi Galactuz,

Mind recalling where you found these rummies? I did see them at 88 Marine Pandan Indah (in their showtank). But the guy there can't guarantee when the next shipment will arrive.

Yesterday during our guppy gathering @ Ikea, we saw some rummy nose @ East Aqua Studio of Pet Safari (the side tenant). Still juvenile fishes less than 1" long selling at around RM3/pc (I forgotten liao yesterday really blur blur) but they have quite alot about 30-40 fishes cramped inside the small tank. Red coloration starting to appear nia not sure whether it'll spread to like the one in your picture.....

kevin,
rummy nose tetra is very common...surprised you can't find any. as for their colouration, it becomes more intense as they age. in lfs they are usually tiny... so some tlc and patience... i have four which looks exactly like the picture you posted but when i bought them they were pale...
HTH.

If there's only one type of rummy nose, Xian Leng normally has them in quantity. According to all the sources I've read, the color intensifies in favorable conditions.

Stan,

There are three varieties of rummy noses, and the one I seek is the most striking one. Yes, I am aware that the red intensifies under good water conditions but not all rummies will have the whole head red. http://www.petsforum.com/characin/ca...mmynose_2.html. Zapster79, thanks for your tips. Very busy for the next two months so I'll see if I have the time to drop by that shop or not...
