Haha Congrats!!!

You must have provided an excellent environment for them to breed. Tetras are quite picky breeders

Alas! I got no Digi cam. Poor me. I'll try to borrow from someone to take pic of it for you guys.

I think alot of people's fish do lay eggs, its just that all of them got eaten. In my main tank itself i've seen quite a number of times Rummy nose, Glowlight tetra, neon tetra and shrimps having eggs. I think the best experience I got is when they court each other. Here is how I sees it: The male (smaller ones) will find a quite place with lots of hidding place. Any other fish (same species) that comes close, he will chase them away. Then when he is ready, he will start to chase a female all over the tank. It is funny cause he is actually trying to corner her to his hidding spot. When he got her there, he will try to scare her between the plants. She goes in, he goes in, she comes out, he will scare her again. After what look like a century, the female start to move very slow (very tired no?) the male will start to rub against her. Rub here rub there and they both goes between the plants and ..... After that i do not know what happen! I cant see them. Bummer! I think they need to be private.

So that's how it goes. Sort of like what we human do no?

Its been a while and boy do I got a surprise for you guys!

The 3 babies are doing fine btw but there is a change to their look. Remember I told you guys they have a blue strip on their upper back? Guess what? now I see 2 strips!!! and their colour is darker blue now. Sort of like navy blue. So I when back to my main tank and have a long look at the Neon tetra. They really don't have the 2 strip now do they?

Then it hit me. Oh me God! It looks like my Longfin Zebra Danios!! I must have made 3-4 trips back and forth to confirm this. My other half thought that I have gone mad. But in the end it is confirm, the proud father is the Longfin Zebra Danios.

Quite an unexpacted adventure for me no?

Frankie
