Exclamation Help!! Guppie just had babies!!

I have a tank with two female Jade head guppies, a male, 4 neon tetras, and a spotted catfish. When I got back from classes this morning, one of my females had babies. There are about 8 (that I can count) in the tank. I have a smaller tank b/c I live in a dorm room at college and don't have room. I have an artifical plant that is small and gravel at the bottom. Some are hiding in the gravel, some are in the plant, and some are swimming around the tank. The other fish don't seem like they are bothering the babies, just seem to be curious and swim up to them resulting in the babies quickly swimming away. I know that fish tend to eat babies. What do I do? Do I move them to a small bowl or leave them? I'm leaving in an hour for the weekend and need to know what to do. Thanks!!

If you are leaving for the weekend, I would leave them where they are, and maybe add some extra floating cover for them if you can.

I wouldn't put them in a bowl, as over the weekend you would prob lose them anyway, with the water getting polluted, or a little bit of starvation as there will not be stuff for them to graze on.

Just give them plenty of space to hide..like live plants or just bogwood with many holes in it...they'll survive..dun worry..

Hi, beautifulxdisaster congrat! I think this is the first time you get to breed the guppies right?? Ok for my opinion, there are con and pro if you separate the babies from the parents. swift them to a smaller tank will help you to prevent them from eaten by their parents.(if they can survive up to 1 week together with their parents, then they are probably save after that)in the smaller tank you can well feed them, and they don't have to fight for food with others bigger fish.Actually there are more benefits, i think you should find it yourself. If you need any help PM me..

Cheer.....
