how long do you leave your lights on? i once had a problem with brown & green algae and after some advice from lfs, i've lowered the duration of my lights to 10hours/day and it works. manage to reduce it and bought some flying fox and yamato shrimp to finish off the algaes.

hope this helps.

i only leave the light on for about 6hrs. i'm going to buy an algae eater fish. right now i have 2 bug eyed gold fish because my guppies keep dying in this aquarium.

Dont get an algae eater, most of them will become too big for your tank and get carnivorous as they get older.. they will start to latch onto your goldfish and eat their slime coat. They can even kill them.

I had the same problem with brown and green algae. I bought some snails which helped a bit. then i got some bristlenose catfish, 5 in total. my b/n catfish are still very young (ten weeks old) so they are ok in the small tank i had the problem in but i will have to move some to another tank cause they are getting a bit big.

Snails and catfish both help but also put in some cucumber/peas for a change in diet (my guppies and platies eat cucumber/peas too )

thats my 2 cents

Flik
