I recently bought a pair of platies, the male died. The female gave
birth to 16 platies..(they all died). Now I am trying to breed platies
and guppies in the same tank. Can this be done succesfully......

Guppies, platies, swordtails and mollies can cross-breed. So, to maintain a pure breed, its probably best not to mix them together.

Also, different coloured parents will produce offsprings different from their parents. So, if you want to keep the colour pure,...

My red male and white female platies produced 50 babies (we counted one by one). Now I only have 6 left, all different variations.

Thanks Einzweitrei,...recently i buy another guppy, a white tail wildform male but it died again. Currently my tank got 2 platies and 2 female
guppies. I am going to get rid of the female guppies so that my platies
can breed normally.

Normally Guppy died b'coz of pure water condition. Please ensure your water condition is "OK". I used under graver filter, so that my water condition can last at least a month. I have 500 pcs. of Guppy, I'm a breeder... I can tell you normal Guppy is so easy to me, I'm now creating Real Red Eyes Albino Guppy, which is 100 times difficuilt than normal one. That's really "Sakit Kepala"...

Also, purchased older or unhealthy Guppy may coz them died easily, normally those colorfull and big tale Guppy are overage already... don't challenge your ability and skills on breeding them... I advice you to choose those aggressive where you can notice they are coming to you while u stand close to them... and of coz.. choose those youngest..

Lastly, if you really like Guppy, and you are staying somewhere around KL or PJ or Sunway or Puchong... I'd very glade to give you free those I breed.

Just want to add my 2sens worth. Guppies don't cross breed with platies or swordtails or mollies. Platies, swordtails and mollies DO crossbreed with each other.
