Can i have a sustainable fauntain with fish and plant?

May i ask sifu sifu...

i got a fauntain and would like to have small fish in it.

but im always busy and sometimes go outstation for works for a few days.

can i put some water plants in it and put the airpump on timer so that the fishes can survive?

currently i have some guppies and swordtail.

pls advise... if my fish will survive?
