Bought a Tai Tou Chai aka Big Head Boy. 4 incher with a water kok. bought it for old time sake. keep one for remembrance of the times and i actually like the aggressive character of flowerhorns chasing my fingers. Check it out! but the owner is lcly type la.

come on bro....havent u learn your lesson from flowerhorn round 1???...still want to pay big money for a fake?...no wonder flowerhorn breeders are driving around town in their new Honda. to be honest...i dont mind keeping one of this cichlids if the price is not so damn high. and one question that i could not comprehend is ....why are they so expensive?...are they expensive because they are truly beautiful or is it because they are controlled commodities?? man .....it would a cold day in hell before i would fork out 180 ONWARDS for a flowerhorn.

they are still fetching a good price because the ones you see selling rm180 at LFS are those survivors that have been selected from thousands of culling. It's really up to the ppl who are willing to pay such a price, for cichlids lovers, we will know to go for Midas or Synsp etc which are the real thang.
I have seen one yellow midas with a kok the size of an orange. Not sunkist orange size, the size of spanish oranges. That fish left a deep impression of CAs on me. Anyway, yellow midas(yellow/white) are quite hard to come by locally. Let the people with money decide how to spend their dough on.

Goldfish, Koi, FH, all man-made breeds..
Sometimes makes me wonder why people like goldfish/koi/FH/albino so much... those fishes don't really interest me. I've always liked wild form fishes. The wilder the better. My dad keeps goldfish and I think he's wasting a perfectly good 3 feet tank for a bunch of goldfish. However, it's my dad who got me into keeping fish in the first place and it's him who provided me with all my first knowledge and equipment to keep fish. I don't think I would be in the hobby if my dad didn't keep arowanas and goldfish and had spare tanks around. So can consider owe it mostly to them. My opinion is.. whatever fish it is, hybrid or whatever, it plays a part in perpetuating and spreading the hobby and deserves a level of respect. Who knows what an empty tank for a FH will end up being for after the FH fever is over. |
