Default Tiger shrimps/Cherry shrimps and Goldfish compatibility?

I was just wondering if shrimps were compatible with goldfish? I have twin demons currently with a cute little chinese sucker (nyeh, lfs couldnt tell me its real name. Have yet to find it online.). I'll be buying a dwarf oto soon and was wondering if shrimp could be added to my list (saw a lot of tigers and cherries at East Aqua, Ikano. Want them, so cute.).

My tank is not densely planted, in fact it has rather sparse hiding places for tiny critters.

Much thanks.

Very expensive feeders i must say haha...
Not to mention ur plants will be ur goldfishes' main ingredient for their salad bowl.
And ur algae eater will later on attack ur goldfish. If ur goldfish is big or medium, ur otos will disappear too...

Goldfish will eat anything...or everything

really! bleh, now thinking of getting another tank solely for shrimp. um.. will see how la. My sucker has left the goldies alone so far. I think it's coz he's much smaller than them?

my (brief) research on fish compatibility recommends otos and rubbernosed plecos. I rather like otos. But if you think it's a bad idea, what other bottomfeeders or algae-eaters could I get?

much thanks for all your advice and pokes at me.

Ur algae eaters didn't attack the goldfish yet...its their typical behaviour when they are young. When they get older...ur goldfish will look like one big lollipop to them...Yum

The bigger the fish the more vulnerable they become to this suckers.

Get a small 2ft shrimp tank shud be mor ethan enough...i got a 3ft and now i can count so many tiny frys...all pink pink color.

Rubbernose pleco ? If only u are living in US or UK then most probably u can get some Chaetostomas. Here basically no chance at all...one reason, people dun appreciate plecos here.

Hi PlecoWhacko,

Doesnt sound too optimistic. Are all plecos aggressive?

I saw a threadfin and hifin at Rockeast today. Was wondering if they'd be alright for a goldfish tank? And do siamese algae eaters and chinese algae eaters fall in the same category as plecos/catfish?

Just acquired a 2ft tank. Dont know where to put it though. May decide to keep shrimp in them! Saw some nice ones at What the Fish this evening. So happy.

Thanks,
Kaz.
