Default Nematodes

Saw a few of these in my tank after lights out. I'm pretty sure they're nematodes unless someone can confirm otherwise.

It is Planaria. Normally growing in shrimp tank. This is due to too much waste or left over. If you cut it into 2 pieces. then 2 broken pieces will grow. If you cut it into 10 pieces..then you will hv 10 more extra.

I once made a trap to catch them. goto www.shrimpnow.com. and looking for my thread. Or else, put salt... but then u gonna be carefull with yr mosses. Salt kill planaria..but kill mosses as well.

Ah, planaria... Googled it and it doesn't seem to be dangerous.

"If a lot of food is left in a tank; including dead and dying fish... a few planaria may divide into hundreds very quickly."

Hmm... I can't seem to find my other otto!

Thanks Dom for the quick reply!

Haha reminds me of one of the episode in X files where the planaria attacks a guy and he became planaria man!!

I used to cut up a lot of this in my lab during uni days, and having fun to watch them regenerate new whole bodies...

They come out from the gravel whenever there's a fish food feeding or liquid food for fries...therefore they are useful in cloudy tanks, but other than that they have no important function and is harmless...
