Default Pregnant Amano

One of my amanos have green bunches under its belly. It's having eggs? Anyone bred Amanos before? I read that the shrimplets need saltwater to survive.

yamato goes through larvae stage and yes, also as read, it does need saltwater to survive. though some reports says otherwise. never quite successful breeding through.

You need to quarantine the female which carrying with eggs with some mosses. Once the female released the eggs. The larvae will survive in fresh water for 2 days. So, you need to change the fresh water to salt water from 0ppm up to 35-40ppm.within these 2 days. You can increase it by hour and hour.

You can feed daphia or green water to the larvae. Once the larvae grow to as in baby shrimp shape. (Take around 30-40 days.) Then you need to add in the fresh water slowly...

hahaha... at times, they swim right into the fishes mouth....

anyway, soyadude, try your methods and see if can be successful.
my yamato is pregnant as well... thought of leaving it in the shrimp only tank (freshwater lah)... just to see what's the changes of survival since some articles said they can survive in freshwater.

I read an article that suggests an approach close to dom's description. The person who wrote the article said that lack of a full saltwater environment, mortality rate of shrimplets are high. The closest it is to full saltwater, higher survival rate. I went and bought red sea salt today, but I can't find the pregnant shrimp in my tank. It is a large tank so it could be hiding somewhere. Or it could have jumped out or dropped the eggs... not sure... o well hope i spot it again someday close to hatching time or can say bye bye to shrimplets. My tank filled with botias and cories and some gobies... so survival rate would be about 0.000001%. I saw a tank filled with baby green shrimp at Ikano east aqua today. Gotta check it out, they seem to breed like rabbits.
