Dom, They say rain water is most polluted at the beginning of the rain, after that not that bad. I dunno why but my fish and plants seem to do better ever since I put in rain water, even the duckweed began to clear up. Miraculous stuff rainwater. Got most of my fish to spawn. Not to mention save a lot on water bill and no need to dechlorinate. Only thing is it didn't seem to work for my shrimp. I think there is a higher chance for tap water to be polluted by heavy metals than rain water. Rain water just have the risk of being too acidic or contain too much sulphur. But most of my fish south american, they look pretty happy in rainwater.
Nano, the shrimp turn white even before they die. After dying they turn red. My tigers slowly dissapeared... I saw one died by being sucked into the filter intake in my community tank. :/ |

Fishes are tougher than shrimp. hv u check the water parameter of rain water? My area rain water can't use for my tank. I can see lot of dirt sinking at the bottom after a day i collected.

I just used a small powerhead attached to sponge filter. Only got nitrate test kit, showed below 25ppm. Got dirt? Dirt come form where? Rainwater itself? The water drip from your roof ah? So keng one, polluted until got dirt in rain?
The tank been there for some time only, I only keep one or two guppy in it, was planning to breed my whiptails in it. 1 and a half feet long. So the tank quite mature one.. my CRS also nothing, only the bumblebee started KO damn fast. About one everyday, then one day 2 die at a time. Now I move to a different tank with different substrate (holland sand and jbl sand) they start to stabilize. The white ones became transparent again. |
