Default Where to buy Yamato shrimp.

Hi,

This is my first attempt with shrimp stuff, I thought I better get started with the cheapest shrimp available before I move on to the Hinomaru bread.

So, please tell me where I can find Yamato shrimp.

I have tried Irene's Aquarium, I would like to have more options.

Regards,
/Andrew

fox, i guess what he/she said is...he/she saw the yamato in irene. but he/she wants to has more options.

Yamato shrimp is around RM1.2-2 each in lfs. Standard price is around RM1.80. The nearest cheapest shrimp to Hino is Bee shrimp. Perhaps, you can get some to try out first. The price is around RM1.20. Hino (CRS) and bee shrimp do require lower temperature. Sometime they are able to survive around 27-29C. But the color will fake out and stop carrying eggs. (this is what happened to my SSS grade) With PH6.2-6.8(the highest) and temperature 24C(consistant...day and night). They do grow fast, color is nicer and fast breeding.

can buy ghost shrimp! they're pretty. And you dun even know they are there unless you look hard enough. It's fun to try detect each and everyone of them in your tank everyday you come back from work. have a bout 10 in my 10g tank... everyday spend about 5 mins just to get all 10 of them. Plus they are cheap! can get about 20-30 for RM1. Get those small size one, cause these guys are aggresive, if they dominant in size... they can hunt anything.

p/s: They go nice with glass cat fish...(i think)

You can't mix ghost shrimp with other shrimps. Ghost shrimp is aggressive towards any other smaller species of shrimps. They will attack any fishes or shrimps when they are hungry or when feeding time...
Ghost shrimp is under crayfish family if i m not mistaken. goto www.shrimpnow.com and www.petshrimps.com for more info before you dump yr head into CRS.

Unhappy

Dom, thanks for the advice. I din't really know that ghost shrimp are not really 'shrimp'. Luckly i do not have any other real shrimp in my tank. I'm just suggesting that these guys are cool, and active. I just think they're cute and affordable, so i suggested it. I'm sorry if i brought up any 'false fact' or wrong suggestion. Maybe i should read more before i post. Sorry. :P
