My mother in law bought several platties and mollies from a local fish store. These new fish all have clamped fins and are behaving listlessly. Sometimes they hover at the to of the tank, other times they'll just sit near the bottom of the tank. The fish store told me they probably have intestinal parasites and the condition is incurable. We have 5 neons and 2 pearl danios in the tank with these sick fish. The neons and danios are about 2 years old. What can I do? I test and change the water on a regular basis.

I am having the same problem with teo female balloon mollies. One of which passed away last night . . . . The other I fear will die soon, however, I am fearful of assuming she is a loss and trying to hope she will turn around. However, the other thing that worries me is I have two good sized male lyretails that patrol the tank almost like sharks and I do not want them to get a hold of her. I was thinking of putting her in the breeding tank and see if she recovers, and if not, the body is contained and I can quickly remove it without the male lyres getting to her . . .
