I have a pregnant guppy who I believe is in the beginning stages of labor. She was hiding at the bottom of the tank near the heater and would attack the male plattie everytime he came near her. Usually they swim together with no problems. Anyway, I currently have her in a breeder tank inside the big tank and I'm wondering if I should keep her there until she has her fry or put her back in the big tank and try and rescue the fry? She doesn't seem stressed in the breeder tank. Also, any idea how long it will take? I noticed her hiding around 10:30 this morning and it's now about 2:30 and still no fry as of yet.
Thanks for all your help! Melissa |

tell me about it. i saw the black spot on my guppy 3 weeks ago and i put it in my breeder tank, and while ive been waiting for it to churn out fry my mollies gave theirs and so did my platys, but still no baby guppys!
it takes them about 28-31 days, and if she stresses out you'll see that black spot in her stomach grow small or disappear if shes going to abort the fry. as long as that black is still there, keep you eye on it. leave her in the breeder. her harmones wont allow her to eat her fry but the the others will have a go. G' luck! |
