We have a sick platy. It was all healthy then all of a sudden has become thin, has trouble swimming, ( wiggles its body but does not get far) and spends a lot of time just resting on the bottom of the tank. Will come up to feed. Ph and amonia levels are fine. Have done a water chnage. The other platy, neons, glass cat fish all seem fine. Any ideas.

Hi there, water change is just a temporary relief to reduce the Nitrate and Ammonia contents. But is a good way to reduce most of the harmful substances in the water.
After changing the water, check PH, TH, CH, NH4 (ammonia), NO2, NO3. A good water condition boast health and immunity to the fish. Add JBL Denitrol after each water change. When you get water from tap, don't forget to add anti chlorine. Check your fish food brand, perhaps you should switch to something that give fish more nutrients and healthy. |

remove it from the tank before you even try to diagnose the problem. put it in a separate bowl or jar. platys are pretty resilient fish i'm curing one right now and its showing signs of improvement in two days. all im doing is a 50% water change everyday, methane blue and a bit of salt. mine is in a bowl so its easier to do the water changes.
