Default keeping tank clean

hi guys i've kept a marine aqurium alive for about 4 months now. everything seems to be okay. nothing died except for some hard to kept corals and turtle grass. duh ! . I've noticed that some of you guys has very clean sand. mine's really dirty. any secret on that? fish ? snails ?

anyway there's another problem, when i on my aqua lights on the night. lots of flying ants will fall into the aqua. my clown and damsel is not really intrested in eating those. any solutions to this besides using an aqua cover? thanks

by the way i've not changed any water for 4 months

I believe wat funnygal meant was "basslets" but i'm not sure if they help to clean your sand..
By the way, your sand is dirty due to.. ?? left over food ?? diatom ?? I think some clean-up crew can help you such as snails, shrimps, and sea cucumbers.. correct me if I'm wrong,am not quite experience bout this marine aquarium stuff

I had the same problem with my coral gravel and i bougt a blue cheek goby. It takes a mouthful of the sand or gravel and sifts through all of the cr*p in it and eats it. At my Local fish store it only cost £20 for a 10cm one.
Hope this helps you out.

gopy? does that include mandarin gopy? i believe this is due to waste produce by particular fish. -> blenny ,i think. Hard to believe that those large waste are coming from the bugger and it's filling my sandbed. these creatures eat lots of algae but in return contribute lots of no3 which causes algae again. anyway heard from a friends that the way to keep send bed clean is to fill it up with live rocks. )
