Hi to anyone who stumbles across this post, i'm new to fish forum and am in need of some help. I have owned a Juwel Aquarium Rekord 96 for 2 years now with tropical fish. However, i have recently taken an interest in Marine fish and believe that compared to tropical they are a completley different class. So, i want to transform my tropical fish tank into a marine one. Now i know that having a rekord 96 would mean i could maybe only have 5/6 marine fish in the tank, but i don't mind as they are so fantastic. It has also come to my attention that i would need more filtration in the tank and maybe more/stronger lighting. Although i am not 100% sure on most of this, so any suggestions would be brilliant, many thanks Billy The Fish.

A Juwel Aquarium 96 is approximately 96 litres, however it does have a lack of space between the water level and the top of the glass. This lack of space means that the addition of extra equipment, for example a protein skimmer, is simply not possible.
Is this extra equipment vitaly important? |

That's about 25 gallons (US). Think is consider nano quah, which is typically ranged from 5 - 20 G.
To me the vital important thing is the water, equipments are mean to ease our maint work and also keep the water quality better and consistent. Without a skimmer doesn't mean aquarium no go, just that you probably have to change water very frequent. How about something to hang on your tank back? There are such devices mean to save space. Experienced reefers consider nano tank need substantial skills and knowledge to keep them. chk this site out for setup of a nano tank, http://www.nano-reef.com/ chk out the info, got many useful info for starters like you. As about fishes, chk this out: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=15 the category of marine fishes for begginers and nano will be good for you too. HTH |
