U're right in saying that they have to protect the fish shops they sell to. If they sell much cheaper than all the fish shops, the fish shops are going to close and then they'd lose lotsa big buying customers.
That said, if you get to know them better and u become a 'familiar' face, u can get SUBSTANTIAL discounts. Fish, move in and out of there very quickly 'cos if a bunch of fish shop owners come, they don't buy 10 fish... they buy 200 fish at a go. A tank of peppered corys could get sold to just one dealer. What u get to see on sale is but a small tiny portion of the whole place. They've lots more fish in ponds and holding tanks behind. I"m glad u like the place. Well worth the visit to see so many fishes... kev |

Actually I was hoping that they can sell slightly cheaper than outside, but seems that their price and those LFS are the same.
Have u been to the Pudu area before? I heard hat the price for fish, plant, aquarium, and equipment there very cheap. Perhaps my next trip will be to that area. I will visit AI again, but not in the near future. Currently I am having problem with my tank. I bought too many fish last Saturday and put all into my aquarium. Now the ecosystem is no longer stable and disease is spreading fast in it. Changing water might be the only solution. I'm crossing my finger and praying hard that this disaster will be over soon. I know I made several mistakes here. 1. I should add in so many ( 30 - 40 fishes ) at the same time. 2. I should quaranteen those fishes first. I'm a greedy pig and I hate myself for making those mistakes. I lost 3 emperor tetra, 2 big bronze aeneus corydoras, 1 sterbai corydoras, 1 panda corydoras, 4 julii corydoras etc. damn myself!!! Anyway, I will still lke to thank you for those info that had provided. |

Correction to my previous post, I mean I shouldn't add so many fishes at the same time.
I went AI again, and the Sabah guy ( name Bidi ) is still there. Again he helped me to select for my fish. I found sterbai, julii, panda, bronze aeneus and peppered corydoras there yesterday. the peppered cory is the last one, or perhaps I'm wrong but its size is very big, about 1.5 inch... The price are as following... 1. Sterbai cory - RM 8 2. julii cory - RM 3.6 3. bronze aeneus - RM 3.5 4. panda cory - RM 6 I'm not too sure how much is the peppered cory but last time I saw those bronze aeneus with the same size, it is RM 24. |

That was because of their size. They r huge and fat for its type. U may pay AI a visit if u wanna see the size but I'm not sure whether they are still there or not.
I can get peppered cory for RM 1 in Old Town, PJ. |
