Thumbs up Snail problem

Hi Soyadude

....I think for snail problem...you could consider of putting mini puffer as mentioned by Dom....i placed a mini puffer in my 2ft planted tank and it is very nice to see the mini puffer in action...haha he would slowly search and destroy the snails.....so far in about 3-4 days ....all snails seems to disappear ald.......the best part for me is...the puffer didnt touch or go near my yamatos.......so maybe you could try it....

regards,
Gary

Yup...Thats what i read also abt puffer attacking and eating those with shells........Seems this puffer is very small and my yamatos is much longer and bigger than it...hahah perhaps i have been over happy as its still too early to tell whether it will attack or not as tank now still has plenty of snails here and there esp in between the riccia and moss....haha...

But will keep a watchful eye and maybe i will feed in some snails in between just to keep the puffer with some food rather than it goes starving and attack yamatos out of no choice...haha

Maybe your puffer is a gangster type...haha ...actually i do observe that this mini puffer do slowly approach little fishes and want to attack the fish tail and fin becoz i was at the lfs observing it before i buy it.....so far in the lfs tank got 4 puffers and abt 40 + neon tetras.....out of 4 puffers...one of it actually slowly ambushing and want to bite the tail....of course i observe and observe....finally chose one which keep on circling some riccia plants at the bottom of the tank...haha maybe the one i chose is more hardworking type and dun like to chase fishes...hahah

...I think better come back to Soyadude's thread about whether rosy barb eat algae or not.....haha..

In my opinion...i think having all this algae eating fish or shrimps is good for a planted tank but somehow we also must consider of looking at other more important factors....i mean prevention is better than cure....so maybe we should consider studying the prevention part i.e. looking at water parameter, lighting aspect, dosing of fertiliser.....feeding of fishes etc....

This comes across my mind becoz some time ago i called YT to ask whether he has any Oto in his shop....before he answer me...he was asking abt my tank condition...so told him this n that.....then he ask me to re-analyse the tank condition and slowly identify the causes for such an algae outbreak....it is normal to have algae in tank but an outbreak of it usually indicate one or few factors is out ald....ummm very make sense to me and somehow his words refresh my mind and i do go back and slowly study it.......no doubt i still waiting for his stock to come in as i want to hv some otos for minor problem solving and conditioning of the tank.....

At times, when algae outbreak liao...what matters is we only want to solve it by all means....so we heard or read in forum....SAE boleh ! , CAe boleh ! Yamato boleh ! Oto boleh ! ....so we ma quickly want to get it....but then same problem exist...ummm then we are on the look out for newer species of alage eater...hahaha... what we forgotten is ummm the root or cause of the problem....we forgot to check on this and only want to solve the problem on the surface ...hahah so what i want to share here is...at times it is good and really grateful to have many experience forum members who willingly share their experience and at times their words really make u think .... AHa!! why was i didnt check on this or why i didnt think of it in the first place....hahah

So thanks to all members who spent time to read this long posting...hahaha
