Hi all! I'm new here! I'm not too sure to put this here but then again I'm not too sure what kind of fish it is. Wich is why I need your help! I think it's a climbing perch but I could be wrong. The person who gave it to us had it in a jar and said it was a puyu. I took some pics of it and I want to know how to care for it so could you kindly help me? here are the pics (not too clear though)
that was its old jar! http://s52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t=MVI_1635.flv I'm vary bad at spelling and would like to say sorry if there is any in this post. I'll add more pics later if those are not good. |

The bigger tank is better for the fish, but for now it is good enough as long as you change the water promptly.
PUYU is a tough fish, it can stay without water for quit sometime, normally during drought season PUYU and Haruan is the last to survive if they could not sink into deep hole to keep alive...until the next rain come again. This fish could not grow so big, the biggest i've ever seen is about 6-7 inch. It got sharp tiny teeth. You can try feed him with pellet or small fish or frozen bloodworm. It can also feed on insect (like grasshopper) or earthworm. BTW where is your location..local to Malaysia or elsewhere? Good luck. Last edited by chinaryukin : 05-12-2006 at 10:01 PM. |

I've just cleaned its water and I think its doing ok. The person who gave us it said to feed it rice and almost anything thats edible.
I've got an old tank thats 18 by 12 by 14 in inches and I'm not too sure if I sould get it a filter or not. Do you think its big enough? Also what plants should I get it to put in its tank? I'm really gonna get the persin who gave it to us! Can you bileve that she expected and eaght year old to care fo it?! Not to mention that hes scared of cleaning its water because he thinks its slimey! I live near Malaysia. |

Most of us started keeping fish when we were young. So, being 8 years old is not a problem. Make sure an adult helps you by reading about the proper way to care for a fish. Maybe when you are older you can have your own big aquarium. Good luck.
