Default Fresh water stingray

Hi there,

This is my first post here. I saw on someone webpage people keeping fresh water stingray and it look so cool. So i am posting to inquire about this pet.

I am interested to keep the following ;

1. "P1" - Potamotrygon Motoro
Orange Spotted Stingray

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/M...90/motoro.html

if that species is not available, i am looking for this species.

2. Himantura chaophraya , fresh water stingray common to south east asia.

My question is the following;

1. Where can i purchase it in malaysia and what is their price range?

2. What kind aquarium setup i need to prepare for them? Any special filtration setup? What would be the rough cost to setup that system for them?

3. Any special requirement in keeping them? When handling them, can i use a thick rubber gloves to avoid their poisonous barb.

4. Any good books to read about them. So far i have found one;

appreciate any feedback from the members here.

Hi flash out.

Thank you very much. I am from selangor. Could you tell me if there is shop available in kl that sells them. As for the penang shop, what is the name of the shop and on what road? Do they do deliveries to kl?

Do you know what type of tank setup for those stingray, how many litres and any special requirement. I am so interested to keep them

Well, i don't think they have shop over in KL or deliver to over there. The shop name is CTY (Chew Thian Yang) at Dato Keramat and Kawai at Bayan Lepas.

I saw them keep in 4 feet tank. CTY is selling, and Kawai, seem like they also keep it themself. They keep it together with Arowana, so I think the requirement is about the same with arowana fish.
