Anyone has any idea where I can get hold of Java Moss or any hardy carpet plants in PJ?

Thanks.

Hmmm...... I've often seen nice plants at 'Irene Aquariums', Paramount Gardens. I've seen some carpet type plant growing on rocks with little netting on them. Don't remember if it was java moss or Riccia. In either case, Java moss will just become one big mass of moss if you let it grow... won't stay a lawn. Riccia... well, I've got a feeling it will float up once it breaks out of the netting.

Currently I have a planted tank and for foreground plants I'm using dwarf chain swords. Also running a DIY CO2 injection system. Plants look fantastic.... wish I could post some pictures here.

BTW, I'm currently in Australia.... and the planted tank is here.

Thanks fo the info. I'll look out for the plant you mention. I believe a lot of plants are available in Malaysia...the only problem is the shops do not carry stocks.

I found out that Malaysia is one of the exporter of aquarium plants/fishes but it's an importer of various aquarium chemical products.

I am wondering about the location of the shop you're refering to in Paramount. Although I live nearby, I rarely go there. Anyway, I'll keep my eyes opened. Sometimes I get very confused about the locations around SS2, Sea Park & Paramount...I am not sure which areas belongs which due to borderline uncertainty.

There's a BIG aquarium plant farm in Seremban. The problem is that not many Malaysians care about keeping water plants and also because planting is not as simple as just thowing a couple of plants and expecting them to grow in a tank. All the CO2 injection systems are currently just too expensive and ppl are not appreciative of the amount of work that has to be put into a planted tank to get a nice tank. I currently use the DIY CO2 injection method and good lighting and daily fertilisation and addition of cleated minerals for the plants. Here in Australia, the planted aquarium scene is much more vibrant, but guess where all the plants are coming from? Malaysia!

Zen Water Gardens in Taman Desa also deal with planted aquaria (other than koi) and they do planted tank installations and maintenance for offices and hotels and they've got a superb 8ftlong planted aquaria in their office. Would be worth a visit. Harry Ho (of Zen WG) could probably get you all the plants/equiptment if you're interested in doing up a planted aquarium.

There is a small fish shop near Taman Bahagia LRT station that sells Java Moss. Very little left. I got myself 1 mounted on a wood. The pet shop at Mid Valley have Riccia fluitans which looks great but it is for display only. sigh! Anyone knows where I can get Riccia fluitans?

He he he.... maybe we can meet up in mid Dec. I'll probably have some Red Tiger Lotus and Green tiger lotus (offcuts/young plants). What's the price of a small Tiger Lotus plant in KL at the moment? Nuphar Japonica I haven't seen here in sydney, but there's the Spatterdock which is the American cousin of the Nuphar sp. I believe. Could probably get the rhizome if you want.

Glossotigma is kinda seasonal... haven't seen any around for a while.

Hey, maybe you could try the aquatic plant farm in Seremban? Alternatively, visit Zen WaterGardens in Taman Desa. They design planted tanks as well (other than koi), and they could possibly get your the plants you want too.

I manage to get some red tiger lotus over the weekend. Now trying to get more nuphar japonica. I also got a spatterdock (i believe). The whole plants are reddish brown in color... could it be a hybrid?

The cost of a tiger lotus is around rm15 for a small baby plant.
