Question Crayfish, Can you help?

Hi, I went to the pet shop today and saw a cray fish HOW CUTE! I fell in love with one! But the shop assistant said it isn't a good idea for me to keep them in my tank as I have a lot of bottom feeders such as weather loaches and a little catfish who is always on the bottom.
Is it true they will eat other fish?
So I was thinking Of Saving up and getting one or two someday Do you know whether you should keep these in pairs? I thought I would put them in a tank on their own, Will this be OK?
Also some people say to keep them in a tropical tank but others on the net say cold water is OK? As long as you have a filter, Well my room is always warm so the water is never really that cold in my big fish tank.
Hope you can give me some information on these beautiful creatures as when I look them up on the net I mostly find sites telling me how to cook them
Thanks xxx

Hi, if you look into the Invert section, you will see some previous thread by members.

As I know, its true that crayfish its bit agresive and should not keep with other small fish as they might eat the fish. They are ok with normal temp water, like 26'c its ok for them. Happy keeping.

Btw, I keep snails.

Crayfish will attack any fishes. No matter it is small or huge tankmate. Smaller fishes will become their meal easily. Temperature like 19-22C is the best for them to breed. They are able to live in temp up to 30C.

i do have a bluish color crayfish with my oscar, parrot, and green terror apprently... haha but he is aggressive when it coems to food since the oscar would eat the food before it would reach the bottom. If you are planning to get one, i would say get one sicne they will fight. My temp i leave it around 75-83 degrees F. He came with my fish tank when i bought it and if i ever had a chance, i wouldnt get a crayfish since they are always hiding and noctorunal but thats jsut my opinion
