Default rainbow king

This is my one year old rainbow king flowerhorn. He feeds on krill and pellets and occasional sawi leaf. Lot of synspilum blood in him.

I think my uncle used to have one of these fish with him, the little fellow looks like yours. He's a slow grower and not a big fish, but he did had a big hump on the head. But unluckily, one day when i visited my uncle, the fish was gone...
Sad...
Heard was cause by the "hole in the head" disease

Default hole in the head?!

Gasp*

That's what I fear the most...head in the hole disease so common in big cichlids, it happens to flowerhorns and oscars and discus like nobody's business....

reminds me I have to go clean my tank

sure will dude, I'm gonna take a pic of it sometime later today or tomorrow...the fella is still pretty much the same....btw I wonder if he is ever going to hump at all, given not many pure species have humps other than synspilum, or maybe it is a she?!

IMO this fish has more of v.maculicauda (the black belt vieja) because it doesn't show much yellow but has a deep red throat and more patterns at the base of his stomach like v.guttulatum....but i think it will have some kamfa in his genes too....hope he still has a long way to go...touch wood!!

Guys, my fishes just got into a fight last night and I was unaware of it until this morning when I found them both beaten up. Bcos I partition them with a plastic board using the divider with suction cups and somehow the cups got loose and slide out of position so the batik kamfa went over to the other side and beat up his neighbour which is my RBK...luckily only scratches and slight torn fins...but I must seriously consider getting a new tank for one of them already....financial restraint at the moment so the partition thing has to be improved for the time being...will get the silicon glue and stick a partition holder onto the tank wall so that it doesnt move when i put the board in...

for the time being the fishes are in frightened conditiion, and they shy away when I tried to snap their pics....guess wil hv to wait....
