Smile Red Empress F2 fry

Hi all!

Stripped the holding Red Empress F1 female a couple of weeks ago - here are results: the "close to free-swimming" fry. The are about 2 1/2 weeks old.

Just stripped - all bunched up together

After 10 mins, they started exploring their new environment

In total, 70+ fry. Fatality rate about 15% ... but that's due to the "cramped space" I kept them (about 30+ in one fry net in a 13g tank). Haha, need more tanks!

You are most welcome. Thank YOU.

Yup, same here. They are always hungry. It's always nice to raise fry - they are just so active ... and after several feeding, they trust you like you are their parent! You put ur finger tip into the water, they happily "nibble" on it.

Well, it's been almost a month since the photos above.

I've since "released" most of the fry into the 13g tank (I still keep some in the fry net -> easier to catch if I sell them). Here are some photos:

P.S. Ignore the scratches on the glass tank.

Default Whats their size?

Hehe. You are the only one with such nice pictures. Make it hard to find out how big they are. The fish you supplied earlier all survived and are thriving. May want to sapu your Red Empress if they are big enough not to be disturbed by the other fish.

Haha, thanks for the compliments!

The fry are about 2cm now, and free swimming. They'll end up as food if they are put in with subadult Red Empress - I'll probably wait until they are about 4cm before mixing them with subadults.

It's been another 2 months since I last posted photos on the Red Empress fry; they are now considered juveniles!

They are for sale if you are interested. Refer to this thread:
