Default Help.....not my aquarium tho', but my pond!

Im a newbie in this hobby and need helps....Here is some pictures of my pond.....

currently residing inside the pond is:-
15 Patin (?)
5 Puyu (?)
10 Lampam Sungai (tinfoil barb)
15 Jelawat (?)
6 Kelah Hijau (mahseer?)
5 Temalin (?)
3 Kaloi Putih (White Giant Guorami)
2 Kaloi Sabah (Red Tail Giant Guorami)
15 Koi
5 Bandaraya (sucker fish?)
10- Keli Putih (?) (i think my arowana have make a dinner out of them)
and 1 Silver Arowana...

My filteration system i find it basic with sponge filter and coral in a 4 x 2 x 1 tank......the pond is around 10 x 3 x 2.5 (gallon? litre? i donno how to calculate).....

the problem is the water become too cloudy every two weeks.....i feed my fishes with palletes 3 times a day 6 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon and 11 at night (my fav feeding time since the fishes tend to be less shy at night). Everytime i change the water i just put 2 bottles of anti-clorin, 3 packets of salts, and halve bottle of aquabac (those good bacteria thinggy)....it will be crystal clear for the next 7 days but then its start get murky then end of another 7 days its practically filthy....mind u i washed my filter every 3 days....

so any sugestion?

What do you mean by "too cloudy", is the color is cloudy white or it becoming greenish?
From the photo I can see that it's an outdoor pond which expose to sunlight. Longdays of strong sunlight promote bacteria and algae growth, which will normally turn the pond to greenish after few days, what we call green water. Green water is good for goldfish, promote deep color and strong immune system.

I keep my 6 footer fibergalss tank under shade with zero sunlight. The water never get cloudy beside heavy feeding to my jumbo goldfishes.

Unfortunately you can't move your pond, so the solution are:
1) green away fomula - liquid form you can get from LFS
2) UV filter system

Good luck!!!

by looking at the photo of your pond, the water problem is due to overcrowded already....actually, what is the size of ur pond??

I'm wondering if you really need to wash the filter every 3 days. The filter needs time to build up beneficial bacteria too.

Mechanical filtration: Wool, coarse wool etc filters out dirt, dead leaves and poop - the larger stuff. Either throw or re-use. Rinse with pond water or aged water.

Biological filtration : Bio-ring, bio-balls, bio-home, bio-gran, coral chips etc - homing filter media for beneficial bacteria (the good stuff), helps keep water clear. Rinse ONLY with pond water or aged water. Chlorine in water straight from tap will kill off the BB and cause bacterial bloom, where water turns cloudy. This is when the BB is trying to re-establish its colony.

Wool can be cleaned when it looks very dirty. Bio-filter media can be cleaned less often. There is no fixed cleaning interval. Depends on your ecological system - how stable the pond is. HTH.

Hey, glad to hear things cleared up. Bio-balls are a type of filter media for bacteria-homing. The balls have grooves and fins for a larger surface area. This is so that beneficial bacteria can propagate and colonise in the media. How to use? Buy a big bag from LFS, get a netting bag, fill it up, tie it loosely and dump into one of the compartments in your filter. I'm assuming you have an outdoor filter with various compartments. And that's it. I have bio-balls in my sump tank from day one and have not touched it ever since (from Oct last year).
