i have a 220 gal fish tank ii want to make it into a reef tank t is not reef ready so i no im going to need overflow boxes and a sump and lighting... it is a bare tank i had oscars in it i bought a 250 gal and i have them in there
help me with the basics what do i need im not rich but im not afraid to spend money on this project and i already have a good idea of what it costs...
so what do i need the tank is 72x24x30

for starters,check the tank thickness. ideally,the tank of that size shud be at least 12mm thickness as the density of salt water is more than FW.

for the equipment,a good skimmer,3 X MH (augmented by actinics tubes),chiller are the most important stuff to get.

later add on,depending on the livestocks that u keep will be Calcium reactor,PO4 reactor etc etc.

cost cud get quite high for a tank yr size.
